WebbIn response to this call, we present a behavioral theory of reputation repair and suggest future research directions. Our model views reputation repair as a process of problem solving, consisting of three steps: problem recognition, search for solutions, and implementation of solutions. WebbBenoit's image repair theory is based on the theory of apologia but expands on the topic to create five image repair strategies with subcategories. The first image repair strategy, denial, comes from apologia theory. Benoit states that there are two different types of denial, simple denial or evasion of responsibility.
