WebStreamflow is a very useful indicator of long-term hydro-climatic changes. From a water resources management perspective, the identification of trend and variability in streamflow are critical for planning purposes. Trend analysis is useful for understanding dynamics and behaviors of hydrological and climatic variables over a long-term period. WebThis chapter deals with only the salient streamflow measurement techniques to provide an appreciation of this important aspect of engineering hydrology. Excellent treatises1, 2, 4, 5 and a bibliography 6 are available on the theory and practice of streamflow measurement and these are recommended for further details.
