WebMar 19, 2005 · For the size of your motor, and the cam you are running, I think you would be best off and cheapest off with a set of ported 049 heads. The AFRs are great, but the exhaust issue concerns me. The edelbrock heads are good, but you are looking at a 288cc port. That is pretty big for a 427 with a cam the size of yours. WebDec 8, 2008 · Heads are going on pump gas 496 so I think that the runner will have to be slightly larger than this though. Design the CSA for around 260 FPS to 285 FPS i never use Epoxy inside a #781, i'm pretty sure you will loose HP even though the Epoxy might show you better FlowBench Numbers. i only Bowl-Port #781's 2.250/1.880 or 2.300/1.880 combos

Building a road course or street and strip engine then the oval port may be the way to go.
