WebOct 24, 2024 · Polarized light is represented by a Jones vector, and linear optical elements are represented by Jones matrices. When light crosses an optical element the resulting polarization of the emerging light is found by taking the product of the Jones matrix of the optical element and the Jones vector of the incident light. Webthe Jones vector of the incident beam by matrices that represent the components to give the Jones vector of the emerging beam. A 2 x 2 Jones matrix is used to represent each optical component and the Jones vector is multiplied by the Jones matrix to give a new vector that describes the transmitted light. This is repeated for subsequent components.
